History and Philosophy:

The Contoocook School opened in the fall of 2000. Since its opening,The Contoocook School has provided quality educational training, behavior plan development, and experiential learning opportunities to students from districts throughout central and southern New Hampshire.

The mission statement for our school is, “To value and respect ourselves and the community while learning and growing.” The program’s primary treatment modality is based upon the Normative Approach, emphasizing establishing a therapeutic community that relies heavily on group interventions. We focus on a strengths-based approach, and use interventions that are culturally sensitive.
